thirteen

it's november thirteenth so i'm posting thirteen love stories that are each thirteen words long (inspired by NY Times Modern Love Column)

one. a summoning: palm tree ritual. a violent clash - opposing dreams. surprise becomes us.
two. an energetic vortex big and blue drew us together - animal council supports us.
three. i didn't understand the meaning of yin-yang; our opposites broke open my soul.
four. all the spit drying on your face waters our wounds into forgiving space.
five. you show me with destructive integrity how much hurt a love may bring.
six. album covers match discordant facsimiles of the confusion of our perfectly arduous union.
seven. my darkness outshines your light - together your stifled joy manifests my latent fright.
eight. midnight caresses melt your bronze brawn into my supple blond - our bodies one.
nine. how many fears from you can well into my cupped heart before collapse?
ten. that bossy lil girl haunting me throughout adulthood finally finds your delighted grace.
eleven. so many times i've overlooked the many ways you've said you love me.
twelve. i didn't know that weakness could feel empowering - together we bandage ancient wounds.
thirteen. "revolution between us" becomes "resolution without fuss" as our stories continually surprise us.
